A $150 cup of Gatorade

Tuesday night/Wednesday morning Alex woke up around 2:30 with his first stomach virus. We kept him quarentined upstairs in an effort to keep Isabel from getting it. He was so pitiful! It absolutely broke my heart. He kept asking me to kiss his belly to make it better and even had Nick put a band-aid over his belly button. By 6:00 Wednesday night he was still sick and getting pretty dehydrated. Nick called the after-hours nurse and she had Nick take Alex to Children's Hospital for iv fluids. When they got there the nurse in the ER said Alex wasn't actually that dehydrated and they wanted to try "oral hydration" first. She put some Gatorade in a cup and gave it to him a little at a time by syringe. He kept it down, so they were sent back home, but not until after Nick paid the ER co-pay... which was $150! So Alex got a $150 cup of Gatorade and two Iron Man stickers.
